so i dried off and left
and lost my wristwatch

hitched a ride, i'm holding fast to the tire of a bus that passed
bought a watch, but the clock was wrong at the station where i'd get off once my life was gone
but that wasn't for some time
so i rested my hands

gambling with some traveling men

walking through the city in the acid rain
my body dissolved so i poured into the drain
i trickled down channels and emerged watchless
in the very same pond where i'd one day rest
but that still wasn't for some time
so i changed phase and left
