Letra de First Communion
Knee deep in the creek with Arlene
She had been making eyes ever since the 4th of July
When she sold me cigarettes even though I wasn't old enough yet
Couldn't wait to get that change just so I could touch her hand
Arlene and her husband were rarely seen together
He was a traveling salesman who seldom wrote a letter
She took a job in the drugstore and moved in with her mother
And hardly ever wore her wedding band, save for Sunday morning
I met her on my first communion. She had gone to school with Uncle Johnny
Tells me that her heart grew heavy
As I drank the blood and ate the body
The creek is up and the grass is high and under the bridge
There's a place we can hide
She pulls up her skirt just above her knee
And says, "Feel my forehead there is a fever inside of me."
