Letra de It Was Cold (So I Set The House On Fire)
Yeah, I was shakin' up in my room
And I wasn't even sick
But, lord knows that I was sufferin'
Guess I didn't know how bad, myself
But all the typical useful methods
Those ideas got old real quick
So, I went out to the garage
And took the gasoline off the shelf

I had goosebumps thinking of the consequence
Of my actions, as you could see
Then I realized they was poppin' up, anyway
Like a really bad case of acne
So I bit the bullet, and I went inside
And poured it all over the place
Then I struck a match that I had in my pocket
And watched the flames

At first, I felt so warm
You know, I couldn't complain
Then like an episode of rescue 911
It all played out the same
Well, my hair started to singe, and lord
My skin began to turn red
And I thought for sure I'd be sleepin'
In the wake of my own coffin bed

Then I got goosebumps at the thought
Of my life, after my death
Thinking about what I'd say to my maker
When it all came down to the wire
The thing that struck the most
That was going through my head
It was cold as the dead of winter
So I set my house on fire

Yeah, it was cold as the dead of winter
So I set my house on fire

[spoken]
But, naturally, those firemen must've smelled the smoke from a mile away
Because no more than 10 minutes later, it became apparent, that the lord had it in mind for me to stay
I guess it was a form of punishment, perhaps.. maybe there's something more to it than that
All I know, however, is that I woke up the next morning, and every little thing was black
[/spoken]

Then doctor robert walked into the room
With some people from the mental ward
They wanted to keep me for observation
But to me, it was pulling the cord
But I couldn't lift up my arms
Cause I was afraid that they might break
Like a couple dark chocolate wafers
And I wouldn't even feel the pain

So I bit my tongue, and I bled, and bled
All over those linen sheets
I did it when their backs were turned
So they never could stop it in time
But now I'm sitting with my maker
And heaven's such a glorious place
And it's almost like I used to know
The identity of every face

And, how silly it was to fear
My life, after the fire
And thinking about what I'd say to my maker
When it all came down to the wire
The thing that struck the most
That was going through my head
When I was still unconscious
And on the verge of being dead

[spoken]
The lord loves us, anyway
And he's with us through the muck, and the mire
So I asked forgiveness, and told him the truth
It was cold as the dead of winter
So, I set my house on fire
[/spoken]
