Open the doors, but shut off the lights
the quiet from the outside creeps inside
footsteps from the past are in the distance
whispered voices float in the wind
drift away into silence
swept away before your time
you tried so hard to let it go
feel release and make it back tonight
in a room, down the hall, a baby cries
a mother screams, panicked, with tears in her eyes
the father did everything that he could do
but tonights decision has come too soon.
