Ludlow Massacre
It was the early spring and the strike was onThey run us miners out of doorsOut from the houses that the company owned We set up tents down at old LudlowI was worried bad about my childrenSoldiers guarding from the railroad bridgeEvery once in a while bullets would flyKicking up gravel underneath our feetWe were so afraid they'd kill our childrenWe dug a cave about seven foot deepWe carried the young ones and a pregnant womanDown into that cave to keepThat very night the soldiers waitedUntil us miners was fast asleepThey crept into our little tent townAnd they soaked our tents with keroseneThen they struck a match and the blaze it startedAnd the roar of the gattling gunI made a run for the children but a fire wall stopped meThirteen children died from their gunsI'll never forget the look on the facesLetras de cancionesOf the men and the women that awful dayAs we stood around for to preach their funeralsAnd lay the corpses of the dead awayThen we took some cement and we walled that cave upWhere those thirteen children diedAnd I said, "God bless the mine workers' union,"Then I hung my head and cried
