Mother's Day Card
I always have a hard time picking out a card for MotherWhen I'm browsing in the Hallmark store, I haven't got a clueShe doesn't like my taste in clothes, or who I choose for loversI don't imagine many mothers doBut a difference of opinion never stopped this world from turningEven though we've had our share I wish that time would ease this strainSo I'm choosing to remember how for her, a single motherLife was often filled with struggle and with painMy mother was a singer, she was beautiful and full of lifeShe'd tuck me in with "Que Sera Sera" when I was just a kidIf I become a dad one day, I'll put my own to bed that wayI'll sing to them the way my mother didI finally left the house when I was old enough for collegeShe helped me buy my Buick and we drove it down to schoolThe thermostat was shot, we overheated, had to stopAnd we just sat there in the silence 'til the engine cooledI remember that I couldn't wait to get off of that interstateWe turned the Buick over and got going on our wayShe must have felt so all alone to see her youngest leaving homeThe little boy she thought would be the president one dayMy mother was a singer, she was radiant and full of hopeLetras de cancionesShe'd tuck me in with "Que Sera Sera" when I was just a kidIf I become a Dad one day, I'll put my own to bed that wayI'll sing to them the way my mother didSo now we have our weekly call, where mostly talk is mostly smallSometimes she thinks her kids still blame her for things that didn't go so goodBut I'll rewrite this greeting card, "I know your life was very hardI also know you did the very best you could."I've tried to say those words to her but the hurt goes deep and back so farA little girl in Jersey and a childhood gone wrongShe gave up singing years ago, but now and then a glimmer showsHer little man has taken up her songMy mother was a singer, she was delicate and full of dreamsShe'd tuck me in with "Que Sera Sera" when I was just a kidIf I become a dad one day, I'll put my own to bed that wayI'll sing to them the way my mother did From Letras Mania
